Solana Token Factory and Token-2022

Create classic SPL or Token-2022 tokens with on-chain metadata and an optional transfer fee, and use Token-2022 tokens in ChainPortal's Solana tools.

Overview

The new ChainPortal Solana token factory creates a token, writes its metadata and mints the initial supply in a single transaction. It can create:

  • Classic SPL tokens, with Metaplex metadata (name, symbol, URI)
  • Token-2022 tokens, with the metadata stored on the mint itself and an optional transfer fee. The transfer fee is Solana's form of a taxable token

The new Solana tools (lock, liquidity lock, staking, launchpad and airdrop) also accept Token-2022 tokens, within the limits listed below.

Shown only after the new programs are deployed. The factory form replaces the current Solana create form only after the token factory is deployed on the selected cluster and confirmed. The Token-2022 options in the tools likewise appear only after each tool's new program is confirmed. Until then everything works exactly as before (classic SPL tokens only).

Creating a token with the factory

OptionRule
Name / symbol / URIName 1–32 bytes, symbol 1–10 bytes, URI up to 200 bytes. You remain the metadata update authority
SupplyThe initial supply is minted to your wallet in the same transaction
Fixed or mintableFixed supply removes the mint authority after the initial mint. Mintable keeps it with the factory, so you can later mint more (up to an optional maximum supply) or renounce minting from the token's management panel
Freeze authorityAlways none, so every ChainPortal tool accepts the token
Transfer fee (Token-2022 only)Up to 25% (2,500 basis points), with an optional maximum fee per transfer
Creation feePaid in SOL to the factory. A referral discount (up to 10%) is taken off before you pay, and the fee you approve is the most you can be charged

The transfer fee

  • It is charged on every transfer: there are no separate buy and sell rates, no excluded accounts, no trading switch and no anti-snipe. This is how Token-2022 works.
  • The fee is held back in the recipient's token account. The token creator can withdraw it. The app does not yet have a screen for withdrawing it.
  • Only the factory can change the fee. A change is queued by the creator, can be applied after 24 hours, and Token-2022 then applies it two epochs later. The app does not yet have a screen for queuing fee changes.

Anti-bot is not offered on factory tokens yet. The token-manager anti-bot option is available on the current create form, which makes a classic SPL token. It is hidden on the factory form for now.

Token-2022 in the ChainPortal tools

Once a tool's new program is confirmed, it accepts a Token-2022 mint if:

  • its only extensions are transfer fee, metadata pointer and token metadata
  • its transfer fee is at most 25%, and the fee authority is none or the ChainPortal token factory (so nobody can raise the fee after you deposit)
  • it has no freeze authority

The app reads the mint before you sign. If the mint is refused, you see the reason and the transaction is not sent. If it is accepted, the app shows:

  • Net of fee: a tool records what actually arrives. With a 1% fee, locking 1,000 tokens locks 990. When a tool pays out, the recipient also receives the amount minus the fee.
  • Launchpad gross-up: the sale must receive enough tokens to cover its hard cap after the fee. The create form shows the deposit needed, and a deposit that would arrive short is refused.
  • Staking: the stake token and the reward token must use the same token program (both classic or both Token-2022).

Classic SPL tokens work exactly as before in every tool.
