Overview

ChainPortal's Cross-Chain Swap lets you swap and bridge any token across 80+ blockchains — including all major EVM chains and Solana — from a single widget. It's powered by Relay, a multichain settlement network that combines DEX meta-aggregation with intent-based execution to route each trade competitively across liquidity sources.

Both /swap and /bridge open the same experience: a swap between the same asset on two different chains is simply a bridge.

Low fees

Network cost is under $0.01 on most routes, plus a tiny 0.1% ChainPortal fee — usually just a few cents, less than a sip of coffee.

Near-instant

Cross-chain settlement in about one second via Relay's intent network.

How It Works

Open Swap

Go to Swap (or Bridge) from the sidebar. Choose Mainnet for real cross-chain trades, or Testnet to try it out.

Connect your wallets

Connect an EVM wallet (via RainbowKit/WalletConnect) and/or a Solana wallet. Both appear side by side in the wallet manager.

Pick tokens and chains

Select the token and chain you're selling from, and the token and chain you're buying — e.g. ETH on Ethereum to SOL on Solana.

Review the quote

See the exact amount out, price impact, estimated time (~1s), and network cost before you confirm. Price impact is the true market impact of the swap — the fixed network/relay fee is shown separately, and on very small trades that fee (not market impact) is the main cost. Hover the price-impact tooltip for a full cost breakdown.

Confirm

The swap widget is a first-party ChainPortal experience with power-user tools that stay out of the way for newcomers.

Favourites & recents

Star any network or token in the selector to pin it to the top. Your favourites (seeded with the popular chains and common tokens) and recently-used tokens appear as quick shortcuts, and a Favourites rail beside the widget sets the sell token in one tap. Save a route (a from→to pair) with the ★ to reuse it later — everything is stored locally in your browser.

Fast amount entry

25% / 50% / 75% / Max buttons spend a fraction of your connected balance (Max leaves a small gas buffer for native tokens).
Toggle USD input to type a dollar amount (e.g. $50) and see the token equivalent update live.
Paste a token contract address into the selector search to find any token, not just the listed ones.

Simple & Advanced modes

Simple keeps it minimal — amounts, a one-line rate, and Swap. Advanced reveals slippage settings, the full fee / price-impact / minimum-received breakdown, and a copy-link button. Your choice is remembered.

Shareable routes

Every pair has a shareable link (/swap?from=…&to=…). Copy it with the link button to send someone straight into, say, ETH → SOL — the widget opens pre-filled.

Built-in safety

Review before signing

A review step shows the exact minimum received, rate, fees, slippage, and price impact before any wallet prompt.

Slippage guardrails

Custom slippage is capped at 50%, with a warning above 5% — high slippage invites MEV/sandwich attacks.

Unverified-token warning

Unverified tokens are flagged and require an extra confirmation before they can be selected.

Non-custodial

You sign every swap in your own wallet — ChainPortal never holds your funds.

Managing Wallets

The swap widget supports multiple wallets at once. When you connect an EVM wallet and a Solana wallet, both show up in the wallet manager with their address, network, and balance. You can:

Set which wallet is the active (primary) signing wallet
Link an additional wallet without disconnecting the current one
Use one ecosystem's wallet as the source and another as the destination (for example, sell from your EVM wallet and receive on your Solana wallet)

ChainPortal reuses your existing wallet connections — there's no separate login for swapping.

Network Modes

Mainnet

Real funds across 80+ live chains. This is the default and what the fee/speed figures refer to.

Testnet

Relay's test network — no real value, useful for trying the flow. Toggle it at the top of the widget.

Mainnet swaps move real funds. Always review the destination chain, destination address, and the full quote (amount out, price impact, network cost) before you confirm a transaction.

Supported Chains

Chains are fetched live from Relay, so the list stays current automatically — no app update needed when Relay adds a network. This includes Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, BSC, Avalanche, Solana, and many more.
